New Orleans Art Gallery


     
     There are tons of art galleries in New Orleans, New Orleans is known for its beautiful culture and art one popular art gallery is Ogden Museum of Southern Art which is located at 925 Camp St. New Orleans, LA 70130. This gallery is specifically dedicated to telling the story of art in the American South through visual art from the colonial period to the present. This specific gallery is located in downtown New Orleans and consists of the largest and most comprehensive collection of southern art. Along with art this gallery features Southern traditions of music, literature and culinary heritage. This museum was created in 1999 and since then has added lectures, film screenings and concerts to its venue. Some current exhibitions include photonola currents 2018, BIG, Newton Howard: Painter of the Sportsman's paradise, The Permanent Collection, and New Southern Photography.

This gallery also has summer and winter camps for kids in 2nd- 12th grade allowing them to learn more about the culture and history of the art. The main goal of this museum/ gallery is to further and expand the knowledge of Southern art. There's also a fashion offered where campers have the opportunity to work with a fashion designer and can experience working on a fashion design from start to finish. They also offer different events throughout the year such as craft night, and different gallery events.

*The Sutton Galleries is located on royal street along with a majority of other art galleries. This gallery has been family owned for over a 100 years and have many exhibits throughout the year. They have a very open design in their gallery so it is easy to walk around and get the full experience of the art. They have a variety of artists in their gallery at all different times, some of the artists they are featuring now include Isabelle Dupuy, James Vilona, Juan Medina, Mary Hong and much more. We got the pleasure to see the artwork of Isabelle Dupuy which was very vibrant and textured works of art. They gallery itself is spacious and the staff who worked there were very friendly and truly wanted you to enjoy the experience.
